Fundraiser/Yard Sale

We just wanted to thank everyone for all the love and support that you have shown to Crystal and Skyler!  It means the world to them and their family!  The yard sale/fundraiser turned out amazing!!  We had SO many donations from so many people that made this event huge!  People were there ready to buy and donate before we had everything set up!  People were so generous and kind and really wanted to help Skyler and Crystal!  Here are a few pictures of the sale that don't really do it justice.

Today Skyler had to have a feeding tube inserted again.  This time he was awake for it and did such a great job!  He was very scared but did exactly what the nurses asked to make it go fast.  The nurse said he was the most cooperative patient they had.  Good work Sky guy!!  He will also be doing dialysis again this afternoon.  Hopefully that will help him be able to get a good nights rest tonight.  Last night he was not feeling well and had a horrible night.  He threw up his feeding tube and had painful diahrea.  He is still off oxygen during the day and right now is awake and alert!  Crystal wants everyone to know how deeply grateful she is for everything that everyone has done for her and Skyler.  She truely appreciates all the love and support!

Skyler was in the ICU yesterday getting dialysis, today his labs actually improved.Yay for fake kidneys! We are back in his room on the oncology floor but he still may need more dialysis depending on how he does off of it, we can actually stay in this room to do it from now on so thats good.Tomorrow he will go in for more chemo, another bone marrow aspiration and chemo in his spine. He is such a trooper though!---An update from Crystal.

We just found out that Skyler will be going in for Dialysis around noon today.  Poor kid!!  Please pray for him and his mom!  Which means he also can no longer have any visitors for a little bit :(  We love you Skyler and Crystal!
Sunday Skyler was doing a tiny bit better.  His swelling had gone down some and he was able to get up and walk a little.  He was still very much in pain, sick and extremely tired.  He was asleep most of the day but was woken up by the nurse to take another dose of medicine.  He did not want to take the medicine so was really hard on him.  He wanted everyone but his mom out of the room.  (I can see why he has lots of people watching him all day long)  After his meds he showed us his cool new dino romote control toy that his friends gave him.  The first time we saw him excited that day was when uncle Todd asked him to play the nintendo with him.  He sat up and was alert.  He even asked if he could walk down the hall with Todd to pick out a new game.  That was huge that he felt he could do that!  Although the nurse said he could not since his levels were at 200 and they needed to be at 500 in order to leave the room at all.
Monday they determined that Skyler's Kidney's were not functioning like they should be and allowing him to release all the fluids they have been giving him.  His Dr's held a meeting that afternoon to determine if he needed to be placed on Dialasys.  They came back and told Crystal that they were going to try a new medicine and see how his body reacts to that.  They were hopeful that the new medicine would help so he would not have to go that route.  Tuesday the Dr's said that all of his organs had hit a plataue but his kidney's.  His kidney's had only gotten a little worse yesterday instead of a lot worse like they had been doing.  So they are going to wait a little longer to see what his body does.  We're all praying that our little boy's body can start to fight back on it's own so that he can recover!!
Grandma Beckstrand letting Kayson see Skyler.  His cousin Kayson just wanted to hug him and was sad and didn't understand why he couldn't touch his best friend.
Aunt Brittany and Kayson while Skyler sleeps.
We're so proud of Skyler for being so good about taking all of his many medications.
Skyler wanted to show everyone how his new dino toy worked but was too tired to even watch what he was doing with it.
Uncle Jared and Skyler playing nintendo.
Crystal went down stairs to get his cousins who were coming and while she was gone Skyler asked us to call her and tell her to come up cuz he just wanted a hug from his mommy!  So sweet.  He fell asleep before she even got into the room.
Uncle Todd watchin Sky play nintendo.
Skyler's cousins love him so much!  This picture didn't turn out so well I had to try and hurry and take it because Skyler got upset with all the pictures that were being taken of him that day.  (Totally understandable, I would get annoyed too!)
We Love you Skyler!!  You're doing an amazing job, keep fighting!!  You have so many people who love and support you!!

Skyler James Isaacson

This amazing little boy is Skyler.  He is 4 years old and the strongest little boy I know.

Skyler's Story:

Skyler has been struggling with his health since he was an infant.  He has been in and out of the Dr's office and hospital.  He has struggled with ear infections all his life which led to him having tubes put in his ears to try and stop the infections.  During these last couple years his ear drums have burst multiple times causing him extreme pain.  He also has croup that he gets frequently.  During all of this Skyler lost his Dad Ben to a heart tumor just days before his 2nd birthday.  About a year and a half ago Skyler's mother Crystal noticed a lump on the bottom of his jaw.  In order to remove this lump Skyler had to be healthy for 6 weeks straight.  Every single time his mom went to schedule his surgery he came down with an ear infection, a cold or croup.  This went on for just about a year.  Meanwhile his lump continued to grow.  In May of this year Skyler was finally able to have the lump removed.  After all that time of waiting the lab had thrown away the sample they collected without testing it for cancer.  In June Skyler under went a second surgery to remove the lump again.  This time the procedure was more of a risk since the mass was inertwined with the nerves in his face.  The surgery went well and we were told the mass was not cancer.
Two weeks ago Crystal began to notice Skyler becoming sick.  He had a fever on and off for a week and his eye lids began to swell up.  His mom decided to take him to Insta Care on Saturday August 14th.  They told her he just had allergies (ignoring her concerns and stating it didn't matter what kind of allergy just that it was an allergy) and sent her home with and antibiotic.  By Sunday his entire face began swelling and by tuesday he was extremely nausous, very swollen, his stomach began to protrude and had unexplainable bruising all over his body.  Crystal felt something was not right and took him into his Dr.  His Dr. told her that his Spleen and Liver were very swollen and told her to take him right up to Primary Children's Hospital.  When they got to the E.R. it did not take them long to determine that he had Leukemia, now it was just a matter of waiting to find out what type of Leukemia he had.  On August 18th they were able to determine that he had Leukemia type ALL.  Although this is the better of the two types of Leukemia, Skyler has it bad.  They took him into surgery later that day to have a central line placed in his heart for his treatments, bone marrow taken from his hip and chemo in his spine to make sure the Leukemia did not reach his brain.  During the surgery Skyler started bleeding from his lungs.  They were able to control the bleeding but fluid still remains in his lungs making it very hard for him to breath. Skyler started his first round of Chemo and is in extreme pain.  He can barely walk and even the slightest touch is very painful to him.  He is having a hard time releasing the fluids they are giving him which has caused him to gain 10 lbs in less than a week.  He is such a fighter and although he is having an incredibly hard time still finds the strength to make his mommy laugh.
