Skyler didnt make counts to start the new phase of HD MTX tomorrow.  I was hoping he would just so we could get this over with quicker but honestly Im pretty nervous about it, so at least I have the weekend to mentally prepare myself alittle more.

The past couple of days Skyler has been looking a little different to me but I couldnt figure out why.  Today as I was looking closely at him I realized he is starting to lose his eyebrows and those longs eyelashes of his.  He lost them down in the PICU before, but he was sedated most of the time so you couldnt really tell.  He is still as handsome as ever though, and I think it makes him look older.  Before I was thrown into this world of cancer and saw someone who had lost their hair to this disease I would think how sad.  Now whenever I see a bald head I smile.  A bald head equals courage and strength to me.  Whenever I go to clinic and see all those kids without hair I know I am surround by amazing and inspiring people.

Here he is in the PICU.  He didnt really lose his eyebrows too much but his eyelashes are gone.

This was taken last night.  He eyebrows are definitely thinning out.

As I was looking back at these pictures I just cant believe where we have been and how much he has been through.  I look at him today and feel so blessed to have him here and doing the things he is doing.

THEN..

NOW...
Playing baseball!!

A happy smiling boy!

And playing with bubbles!

Its really incredible at how well he is doing.  We have definitely been blessed.  Those pictures just seem like a dream, well a nightmare really that I try to erase from my mind.  But look at these recent pictures...incredible!

He is amazing. Seriously he just shines through the computer screen, such an example of bravery and character. You don't know me but I've been following Skyler's story since last year and I've started to show your blog updates to my little boys (about his age--they're 5 and 6) and they think he's really cool. And as a mother I have to say you are amazing too, I really mean that. Our prayers are with you and Skyler!

Crystal you and skyler are amazing! You know what, I have a neighbor who is dealing with terminal cancer and he deals with it with such determination eventhough he and his wife are uncertain of his future, but they are strengthened by their faith everyday. He too has lost all of his hair and I just look at him with amazement with how well he is doing inspite of everything the cancer has done to his body. He is an amazing person. And his strength is incredible. When ever I see someone with no hair I often think I can't imagine the hard time they must be going through, and I just hope and pray that everything turns out well for that person. I Also think of you and skyler often. you are in my prayers...

I made my way hear through another blog ... Now I can't get that song out of my head ... his name is Skyler James Isaacson. What a beautiful little boy you have! He has been through so much at the tender age of 5. I was sorry to read that his daddy is no longer there to help you with this battle. I am amazed at how positive you remain throughout it all. Sending all good wishes your way for health and healing. Blessings, Tammy

He does look so different with his eyebrows and lashes thinning out. It looks like his hair is maybe coming back in a little though? It looks wispy in one of those pics. I'm so happy your sweet boy is getting through this and pray that the next phase goes well for you two. You're in my prayers daily. Tell Skyler hi from the crazy lady with the candy. :)
