Skyler is still spiking fevers as high as 103 so we ended up in the ER last night for cultures.  His ANC went up to 1.9 so they didnt admit us, but his CRP (infection level) went up as well.  So we know something is going on but just like before we dont know what.  They are having us come in tomorrow for more testing and to do his CT scan early.  We are still scheduled to start HD MTX on Wednesday but if he is having fevers they may not be able to.  He has also been throwing up alot lately, around 4 or 5 times a day.  He hasnt really been able to keep anything down and is looking way too skinny.  Im afraid he may need a feeding tube for nutrition.  Im crossing my fingers that that wont be the case, he is so terrified of putting those in.  Its weird, but last week I had this uneasy feeling that things werent going to go as planned.  I hate that I might be right about that.

Conversation of the day:

Skyler- "Mom have you ever had cancer before?"
Me- "No honey"
Skyler "Oh good because its tough"

ah, so sorry to hear this crystal! we are here, too, with a blood infection. it has been really, really strange because elena hasn't really had any symptoms other than a few fevers, being a little more tired and pale than usual (which i wouldn't even really mention if this hadn't turned into something), and once time throwing up. she's been happy and playing as normal. so bizarre. i know that pit in your stomach, something-is-going-to-happen feeling. not fun. skyler is in our prayers. i hope you guys get some answers!

Your little conversation with Skyler just brought tears to my eyes. It is so tough. Skyler is so strong and amazing. I am sorry he's been so sick. I can't believe how much he is throwing up. I hope you don't have to do the nutrition tube...that is not fun! I am always amazed at how you handle things Crystal, you will forever be an example to me.

skyler is a true inspiration to me. for how young he is, and go through so much. he is so brave! I hope he gets feeling better, and that the throwing up gets to be less. your conversation is so sweet, and it too brought tears to my eyes. what a sweet little boy you have. people like you and many others in the cancer world make me want to do more service for others...when ever I can.

Crystal- I came across your blog from a friends blog. I just wanted to tell you that you are such an inspiration to me. You are so positive and strong. I pray for you both all the time. My heart breaks to see pictures of your little Skyler so sick. I'm so glad he's made such big improvements, and I hope he continues to get better and better. I'm sorry he's been throwing up so much lately. Anyway, just wanted you to know there's one more person praying for you and pulling for you guys to win this battle. Loves!

You guys just can't catch a break. :(

You're so close to maintenance, I will pray that they can figure out what is going on with Skyler now, get his HD MTX done and get him into maintenance on schedule. He is such a brave boy. It's amazing what comments cancer kids will come out with. It's heartbreaking.

Love to you both,
Erin & Nolan
