Skyler is doing surprisingly well and we should be headed home in the next day or two.  This is definitely not the outcome I had hoped for but I still dont regret the decision to try and place a port.  As hard as things seem somedays I know that things happen for a reason.  Our trials make us stronger and we arent given anything in life that we cant handle.  Obviously Skyler is a STRONG kid and as hard as it is for me to accept, we have faced challenges that are going to strengthen us and make us better.  If this hadnt have happened I wouldnt have been able to have the conversations I have had with some amazing women, I wouldnt have been able to be here on a huge milestone day for a fellow cancer friend, and Skyler wouldnt have learned that pokes arent as scary as he thought.  He has had worse happen to him and I have been able to see the proud look on his face after he is done with each and every poke this week and know that he can do anything.  I dont know how I got so lucky to have this sweet child as my own.  He is truly amazing and I love him with all of my heart.  One day I hope to be able to be as strong as he is and to carry on in life the way he does amidst the challenges he faces everyday.

Perfectly and beautifully said!!! Seriously Crystal, u are soooooo right, Skyler is something else, he is the MOST EXTRAORDINARY kid I know! He is has endured more than ANYONE has had to go through and like u said, still comes out with that bright, cutest smile and eyes that can make anyone smile and/or cry bc they "speak" volumes to ones soul. My 2 kids absolutely adore ur Skyler! He is ALWAYS in our prayers & on Az temple prayer roll. Just "knowing" the little u allow us to know of skyler, makes me a better person. Thank you Super Skyler!

Wonderfully said! You're right, Skyler is amazingly strong and brave and sets a great example to everyone around him. But I have to say, from an outsider's view, you're pretty strong yourself. You've carried on through some incredibly hard times and you've shown Skyler was it is to be strong and tough. The decision to place the port was made with Skyler's best interests in mind and it was a good decision with a poor outcome, as unfortunate as that is.

Feel better quickly Skyler!!

You don't know me but I came across your blog some time ago and that sweet little boy melts my heart!! I can't even begin to imagine the trials you both have been through!!! And through it all you seem to stay so positive and strong! My thoughts and prayers are with you too often!!!! I hope he continues to get better and get the time away from the hospital he so desperately deserves!!!!

I haven't even met Skyler, but he is one of my hero's!! He has the brightest smile that makes me realize my problems are nothing. It is such a joy to read your blog, and read about the inspiring little skyler. He makes me want to be a better person. He makes me want to never complain again. He makes me realize all the good there is in life. For someone to go through absolute misery and still find the room to smile, and smile often, gives me hope. And I know many others. Thank you, Skyler!
