We are headed home today!  Yay!  I really wanted to go home yesterday but he was having bad headaches that morphine wouldnt touch and also a low heart rate.  As much as I wanted him home I thought it was best for him to be monitored one more day.  He didnt have a headache at all yesterday and they put leads on him to monitor his heart rate.  It dropped really low while he was sleeping but the wave pattern looked good (things were firing correctly in his heart) so they told me they werent too worried. His fever curve has gone down the past couple of days also so this is all promising stuff.  He is being sent home on four IV meds which will keep me super busy throughout the day and night and Skyler will basically be attached to the IV pole all day but at least we will be at home.  I looking forward to taking over his care again.  Because we will be at home I will have to be very vigilant and keep an eye out for any changes clinically.  If he starts looking worse or his fevers start getting high again then I will take him up to clinic to be evaluated.  If everything stays ok then we will come into clinic on Friday for another CT scan of his lungs to see what the nodules are doing.  We are holding off on the colonoscopy right now but will proceed with it if things get worse again.  I pray he is on the road to recovery from this mystery illness but you just never know with Skyler.  Thank you for all the love and support these last three weeks.  Every encouraging word, prayer, card and gift have been much appreciated.  They have helped Skyler and me tremendously.

Skyler had a really bad day yesterday especially because he thought he was going home, so with a little persuading (ok ok a little threatening may have been involved-you do what you gotta do for your kids right?) they let us leave the room.  Here we are making our escape.

Skyler really wanted to have a picnic and since it was too cold outside we decided to have our picnic on the hallway bridge that connects to the Moran Eye Center.  It was nice and there werent alot of people around.  It seemed to lift his spirits alittle.

I'm so glad to hear that you're going home today. It will be so much better for Skyler to be at home. And things sound promising for Skyler's symptoms. I hope and pray that things are finally settling down for you guys. And the picnic is awesome - you do such an amazing job of keeping things fun for Skyler.

I hope you both have a great sleep in your own beds tonight!
