We are home again.  They kept us through the night because it took so long for the platelets to come up from the blood bank.  They dont know why his ear was draining but it looks ok so they arent going to do anything.  I hate the fact that I took him to the ER last night.  It is one DIRTY place and I wouldnt be surprised if Sky pick up something there.  UGH Im so frustrated especially because they didnt end up doing anything with his ear.  If he gets sick from that I will be so mad, I wish I had just waited and gone into clinic today and had them check it there.  The on call oncologists told us to go to the ER but I wish I would have listened to my gut.  Lesson learned I guess.  Im just grateful to be home again!!  We have to go to clinic on Wednesday for some more platelets and maybe chemo.  His ANC (a number that tells you where his immune system is at) dropped in half since we have been home, so thats pretty scary.  They may hold off on chemo this week just so his counts can come back up.

I've been a lurker here for a long time following Skyler's story (was linked from Baby Center by someone) and I totally teared up seeing you guys are finally home. I can't even imagine all the struggles you have gone through and just wanted to say that I admire your strength. Skyler is one lucky little boy to have such a great mom. Good luck at home and keep on going!

Glad you are home. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that he didn't pick up any bugs from the ER. I definitely understand your concern - I HATED going to the ER, it's a process that they really need to change. We'll be thinking of you this week :)

So glad you are home, safe and sound. The ER is so hard and it's always a battle to know what to do.

You have got to be so tired. You are having to learn so much right now. We are praying for you.

Next time if you have to go in make them put you guys in a separate waiting room if they didn't this time. Immune suppressed and immune compromised will sometimes be allowed to wait in the x-ray department after hours and it is much nicer. Although you have to make sure that they don't forget about you, but it is much better than being in that germy ER. I hated that place. We had to sit in the waiting room for 8 hours one day hooked up to an IV. It was horrible. And sometimes the docs can call ahead and make them bring you right back and put you in separate rooms too.

It sounds like not much has changed in the past 15 years!

There is valet parking at the north doors and they ask that you don't tip the valet's. Hopefully, that helps a little...

Oh, and you're doing great!

Crystal, I am so sorry that clinic was so hard that first time. It will get easier and easier with each time I am sure.

I was also going to tell you to use the valet parking (they also have parking just for ONC patients on the south side. I personally like the valet on the south side better too because you don't have to wait out in the cold while they get your car.

You are doing so great Crystal! Hang in there.

XOXOXOX
